Flashmeeting from Knowledge Media Institute of the Open University, produces visualizations of meeting activity. Very impressive - take a look at an example. I recommend the paper from the group: “The Shape of Live On-line Meetings“. Wondering if Flashmeeting is open source???? Can’t seem to find a link to download it.
The awesome coding skillz of a 12 year old. Watch it — you may even learn jQuery.
Watch and laugh - Dick is hilarious as the Academic who can’t use a computer. Watch Dick over use technology in Part 2 - way to make fun of webcams and online recorded lectures.

I guess, given that enterprise software can be pricy, financing has always been an option. Though I never thought I’d see the day when a software company is actually lending or facilitating the loan. Sure is starts at 0% but…. I just added economy as a category to my blog. Oh dear!
Quite a few interesting papers from the MUPPLE08 conf. Particularly liked the “Adding mash-up based tailorability to VLEs for scripted Collaborative Learning” paper which has an example of using MediaWiki to render the mashups (made with a tool called Collage).
Wow — Lady Gaga is amazing but never thought she would have this success so fast. Poker Face is NO 1. …And Yay for Chace Crawford being in the vid.
Trying to finish some code - mostly Java but have had to write some fairly simple Javascript. Test the code in Firefox, it all works. I test in IE and I get an error. I start to debug in IE - line by line. The error seems to be on the line that uses Array.indexOf(). Mmmm, thats crazy you say. That can’t be. Sure enough I turn to my search pal Google and realise that I am not the first to encounter this error. IE (even version 7) does not implement Array.indexOf….. Can’t believe I have not encountered this before and can’t believe it even exists.
The fundamental rule of screenwriting, as I have been taught, is to “show and not tell”. Essentially it means that a screenwriter should use actions to get a point across instead of simply describing things via dialog. All rules are meant to be broken at some point in time! Gemini Division, a micro series breaks this rule. Getting a story across in a very short timeframe (each episode is only 6 minutes) is a contraint and the writers let the lead character do alot of talking (telling) to a video phone. I feel I need to try writing a micro series as I have not been able to finish any of my 3 started screenplays. Shorter stories, even if just blog posts, might mean that I can actually finish a story and as I love to break rules, I hope to break a few more screenwriting rules along the way.
